Converting data to received power

Images:

Raw CGS data files - voltage (mV) vs. samples

Received Power - power (dB) vs. time (s)

In order to analyze the received data, sampled voltages are converted to received power. To convert to power received at the CGS antenna, the following equation is used:

Prec = X*v^2

where Prec is the received power, v is the stored voltage, and X is the conversion factor, defined as:

X = (ADgain^2 *PolLoss )/( R*Gsys*Gant*EffArea)

where ADgain is the gain of the A/D converter, PolLoss is the loss due to the circularly polarized antenna, R is the A/D resistance, Gsys is the system gain, Gant is the antenna gain, and EffArea is the effective area of the antenna.
